Kids & Tweens News

Out-Of-Sight Tuesday Nights - Begins Tuesday, September 2 @ 6:30PM

Every Tuesday night, we will feature a fun, family program. First and second Tuesdays, join us in the Treehouse for Radio Classics night, and enjoy classic family radio shows from the 40’s and 50’s like Burns and Allen, Fibber McGee and Molly and The Lone Ranger. A list of shows is available at the Children’s desk. On the third Tuesday, we will host a visiting performer (David Frings in September) in the Community Room, complete with dinner at 6:00 pm. Please register for the meal. On the fourth Tuesday, join Ms. April for a PJ Storytime, complete with a bedtime snack. Wear your PJ’s and get comfy for a good time! Every Tuesday night is out-of-sight at the Vestavia Hills Library in the Forest! (due to holidays and other programs, some Tuesday night programs may be switched. Please check our monthly calendars!)




Together With Twos

Together With Twos – Begins Tuesday, September 2 at 9:30 am & 10:30 am Join Mrs. Courtney for a rollicking toddler time of stories, songs, finger plays and movement. Ages 18 mos to 35 mos. Every Tuesday through December 16th.

Story Friends with Mrs. Lisa – Begins Wednesday, September 3 at 10:30 am Join Mrs. Lisa for great stories and songs plus a surprise visitor or two! Ages 3 and up. Every Wednesday through December 17.




Skit-torytime / Wednesdays @ 3:30PM

Skit-torytime – Begins Wednesday, September 3 at 3:30 pm Join Mrs. Carol for a traditional storytime for school-age kids. New stories and old favorites, along with skits where you can be the star! Kindergarten and up. Every Wednesday through December 17.




L.I.F.T. (Library in the Forest Time) @ 9:30AM-12:00PM / Thursday

L.I.F.T. (Library in the Forest Time) – Begins Thursday, September 4 from 9:30 am-12:00 pm We put special play equipment in the program room so you can meet your old friends or make some new ones in our social play program. Come whenever you like during the program time. Every Thursday through December 18.




Book Babies / Thursday @ 9:30AM and 10:30AM

Begins Thursday, September 4th at 9:30 am (ages birth-12 mos.) and 10:30 am (ages 13 mos-18 mos) A new program just for our babies, with small classes limited to 12 each, where we begin the journey toward a life-long love of books! You must call and register each week and please note the age range for each time slot. Extra time slots may be added if needed. Every Thursday through December 18th.




Preschool Pals: My Little Pony Roundup! Friday, September 5 @ 10:30 am

Put on your western wear for our colorful pony-themed corral of fun! Make sparkle ponies, catch a flying pony, corral a whole pen full of playful ponies and much more! All preschoolers invited!




Tween Scene – Begins Monday, September 8 from 3:30 pm-4:30 pm

Have an after-school snack, participate in a volunteer opportunity in the library, book-talk your latest favorite or create an art project and earn points toward prizes to be awarded in December. Grades 2-6. Every Monday through December 15th.




Lego Wars – Every 4th Saturday beginning September 27 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Come use our extensive Lego collection to create a unique structure based on the month’s theme. Top three creations win a prize each month! All school age children invited, but parents must remain with children 7 and under.
