Kids Calendar

Toddler and Preschoolers

Miss Savannah’s
Together with Twos

Ages: Birth to 24 months
Every Tuesday at 9:30 & 10:30
Together with Twos is a storytime developed to be age appropriate for the toddler. Filled with songs, finger-plays and short stories, this will be perfect for children birth to 24 months and their caregivers.

Ms. Carol & Friends

Ages: 5 & Under
Every Wednesday at 9:30 & 10:30
Ms. Carol & Friends will feature longer stories, puppets, and songs which will get them up and moving, while introducing them to language arts through storytelling. Suggested for preschoolers and their caregivers.

LIFT for Play!
(Library in the Forest
Time for Play)

Ages: Preschoolers
First three Thursdays, 9:30 -11:00
We know how important social time and play groups are for children and their caregivers so we are opening our Program Room and providing special crawl-through tunnels and playhouses as well as scoot-alongs, puppets and other toys that will only be available for the L.I.F.T. program. The room will be open from 9:30a-11a on the first three Thursdays of each month for preschoolers and their caregivers. Come play for a few moments or the entire time, and remember to make us a permanent addition to your weekly schedule. We want to give you a L.I.F.T.!

  School Age

Skit-torytime with Ms. April

Ages: 5K & Up
Every Wednesday from 3:30-4:15
Skit-torytime! is designed for school-age children who are able to attend independently. They will have opportunities to participate in stories through skits, Readers Theater and songs as well as the traditional act of listening.

Kid's Klub Program

Ages: Grades K-3
Every Fourth Tuesday from 3:30-4:30

Lego Wars

Ages: Grades 2-6
Selected Saturdays from 11:00-Noon
One Saturday each month, we will offer Lego Wars! Each month there will be a different theme, and you can come create a master piece with our extensive Lego collection. We will offer prizes each time in different categories, so come build and create with us! Family

June 6th, 11am - The New Adventures of Brer Rabbit
June 6th, 11a– Puppeteer David Stevens brings “The New Adventures of Brer Rabbit”. David makes his own puppets and has worked with Jim Henson and Sesame Street! He uses traditional hand puppets and always puts on a great show. As part of our community outreach, this show will also be at Liberty Park Elementary for a 3:00 pm show.

June 20th, 11a– Lew-E’s Educational Circus has lots of the lights, sounds and visuals of a circus, but in a more compact, community room format! He juggles, does some magic, makes balloon animals and entertains non-stop.

June 27th, 11am - Red String Shadow Puppets brings the rare and enthralling art of shadow puppetry to everyone. They will be performing two stories and children of all ages will be enchanted by something they rarely have the opportunity to see. As part of our community outreach, this show will also be at Liberty Park Elementary for a 3:00 pm show.

Wednesday, July 3rd, 10:30 am - The Secret Garden
July 3rd, 10:30am – Hampstead Stage Co. will bring “The Secret Garden” to our outdoor amphitheater. Come enjoy this classic family favorite with our beautiful forest as a backdrop. (This program will replace the weekly “I’m Diggin’ It” storytime on this date. Program will be held in the Community Room if weather is disagreeable.)

Atlantic Coast Theater will bring their musical production of “The Pied Bag-Piper of Hamelin” to the Library in the Forest. They are always entertaining, and one of our favorite performers.

July 25th, 11am - Stevens Marionette Puppets is the oldest puppet touring company in the US. They will be performing “Rumplestiltskin” with their beautiful, hand-made wooden marionettes. This type of puppetry is always exciting, as few get to see a live performance. As part of our community outreach, this show will also be at Liberty Park Elementary for a 3:00 pm show.
