The Vestavia Hills Library Foundation was founded in 1997 to develop public and private financial support for the Vestavia Hills Public Library. In 2006, the Mayor and City Council authorized a four million dollar challenge grant for a much needed new library. The Foundation managed an additional $11 million dollar campaign to build the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified library in the state of Alabama.
The Foundation continues to serve as the fund-raising arm of the library system and provide support for its long-term growth through an endowment fund.
